Tombstone - "The Town too Tough to Die," Tombstone was perhaps the most renowned of Arizona's old mining camps.  When Ed Schiefflin cam to Camp Huachuca with a party of soldiers and left the fort to prospect, his comrades told him that he'd find his tombstone rather than silver.  Thus, in 1877 Schiefflin named his first claim the Tombstone, and rumors of rich strikes made a boomtown of the settlement that adopted this name.

Days of lawlessness and violence, which nearly had then-president Chester A. Arthur declaring martial law in Tombstone and sending in the military troops to restore order, climaxed with the infamous Earp-Clanton battle, fought near the rear entrance of the O.K. Corral, on October 26th, 1881.  Over the course of 7 years the mines produced millions of dollars in silver and gold before rising underground waters forced suspension of operations.

Truly a Historical American Landmark, Tombstone is America's best example of our 1880 western heritage, which is well preserved with original 1880's buildings and artifacts featured in numerous museums.

Kitt Peak is located 56 miles southwest of Tucson in the Schuk Toak District on the Tohono O'odham Nation and has a Visitor Center open daily to the public.

Mt. Lemmon - Mt Lemmon rises on the north-east side of Tucson, beginning with a picturesque ascent through one of the world's finest saguaro forests.  As you climb the thirty-mile highway littered with crags, you experience a diversity of biomes and pass by impossibly balanced pinnacles like in a Road Runner cartoon.  While Tucson swelters in summer heat, the pine-covered Summit Crags remain cool.  You'll find thousands of climbs of all grades - sport and trad. Biosphere 2 - The under-the-glass tour will transition from the cliff above the one million gallon saltwater ocean through the upper and lower savannahs, thron scrub, desert and technosphere finishing inside the amazing south lung complex.  Visitors then continue to the starting point on the hill overlooking Biosphere 2. The guided tour also provides some unique photo opportunities.
